How to Lay Laminate Flooring on the Top of Vinyl Flooring

A floating laminate floor is a type of floor comprising of engineered wooden boards that are roofed in a laminate finish by a wood-grain pattern.A hardwood floor can provide your home with a traditional feeling. If installing a hardwood floor is not a choice then you can install the floating laminate floor.  It's termed as a floating floor because they are sealed together by means of tongue-and-groove system, instead of having the individual boards nailed to the subfloor. To cover your old vinyl flooring, installing a floating laminate floor may be an ideal way.

• Removing the molding along the corner of the baseboards through a pry bar. When you want to remove the molding then take care if you want to reinstall after completing the laminate flooring.
• Vacuum the surface of vinyl floor to remove all the debris and dust particles. Wash the vinyl flooring by a mild detergent and let it to dry properly.
• Lay a portion of foam underlayment and the panel of laminate flooring in contrast to the door jambs inside the room.
• Cover the vinyl flooring by foam underlayment. It will provide a barrier between the vinyl and the laminate.
• Place one by fourth spacers against the baseboards every 2 feet all around the perimeter of the room.
• Lay the first board against one of the large walls of the room.
• Continue laying the 1^st course of the boards until you came on the other side of the room.
• Cut a board in half by a circular saw.
• Install the 2^nd course of bards by the same procedure.
• Place a tapping block against the tongues of the boards in the 2^nd course.
• In the last step, remove the glues and tape from the floor.
